Experience Mad Macs Farm on Open Farm Day!
Located in Mira Road, Nova Scotia, Mad Macs Farm is a small, mixed farm producing spray-free vegetables, pork, chicken, and a range of value-added products. Their focus is on growing high-quality food that’s good for both people and the land—and ensuring it’s accessible to all Cape Bretoners.
During Open Farm Day, visitors can tour the farm and see the hogs currently in production, along with seasonal produce growing in the farm’s polytunnels. You’ll also get a close-up look at their “chicken tractors” in action—an innovative grazing system that helps enrich the soil and store more carbon.
Farm staff will share some of the new fertility-building methods they’re using, such as creating biochar for animal bedding and soil improvement. It’s a hands-on opportunity to see how sustainable farming practices work in real life, while connecting with the people who grow your food.
